I just saw this recently in Dr. Silverman's article and thought it was so cool! I had never "seen" it before. I had one of those silly lightbulb moments that I should have had in elementary school but didn't happen until my 30's, lol.

There's some other, physical, 9's trick that DD showed me. However, I'm not remembering it right now...wait a sec.

look at fingers (all 10 (because I'm including thumbs) )

start at one end left side and count over the number you are multiplying by 9. (ex. 3)

Ten's digit is the number of fingers to the left of the one you landed on. (for 3x9 => 2)

One's digit is the number of fingers (+ thumbs) to the right of where you landed. (for 3x9 => 7)
