If the 'kid' is gt without other special needs, what am i legally entitled to have in terms of IEP/WEP etc. What comes with the most actionable path?

That's a very state specific question Kickball, and I doubt my "PA" answer will help you much. There are links to the left, one titled "How gifted-friendly is your state?" that might get you started.

I would agree that this is a state specific question. For example our state mandates a WEP but for our old school district it is a check list type of form that the parents don't even see unless they specifically request. I requested to see DDs WEP and during our fall conferences in Nov. it wasn't even prepared for the year! I finally received a copy of it.

What it stated was which subjects DD was identified as gifted and how. It stated a goal (which was one of maybe three or four options that a teacher checks off). It was something generic like: teacher continues to support students learning needs in the classroom. How profound, LOL!! Other schools in our area are much more detailed. Our new school district puts more thought to it since they actually offer gifted services.

Go to your state department of education website and they should have info on what is required in your state.
