How accurate do you find the hours to completion to be? I know my daughter is smart but this is beginning to scare me. What have your experiences been? She loves it now that she has figured out she can do quicktables and earn "games", thank god that part times out each day.

DS6 just started using it about 2 weeks ago and I freaked out at first, too! But, as he's gone on and gotten to the real "work" it's slowed considerably. It seems to use how long they take for any particular lesson and average that as if they were going to finish the whole level that quickly.

What we've found is that in the beginning, so much was review (sometimes of things I didn't know he knew, lol) that he whipped through it, easily doing 2-3 lessons in a sitting. Now, he's pretty consistently finishing 1 lesson in a sitting after doing the reviews at the beginning and doing some quick tables. I also just added his timer on to the quick tables to slow down his progress some.

I have a post from a couple of weeks ago with me hyperventilating because he was 46% done 2 days in. After 2 weeks, he's 60% done- still crazy to me, but not "finishing 3rd grade math in less than a week" crazy, lol.

I hope your right. We started on the 28th at 46% as well and after 3 hours of login time, today she is at 72%. She does quicktables every day and I did set the time on that too. It said not to advance their grade unless their initial assessment was above ninety so I didn't. Thanks everyone who suggested ALEKS it has been really great so far.

Can you please tell me more about ALEKS? If Miss 7 skips year 3, I would like to make sure we've covered the year 3 curriculum over the summer holidays. I've had a look at ALEKS online. Would it be appropriate to use ALEKS? How does it compare with mathletics? jojo

I am not familiar with mathletics at all, but found with our own use that Aleks was pretty intensive, and more than able to cover "holes" within a typical school program. DS used it for 4th through pre-algebra, and came out at the other end stronger than most of his lock step classmates.

We use it here. DD was getting a little sick of the format, but had renewed interest when I moved her up to the next level. I think we will go month to month for awhile because I'm not sure we'll stick with it. Not because it isn't good, but just to spice things up a little for her.

From a parent standpoint, I've been more than pleased with Aleks.

If you want to try it don't make the mistake I did. I signed up for the 2 day trial they offered online. When that ran out I signed up for a monthly account. The next day an email came offering the one month trial, which I can't use now that I've paid.

Did you try calling that and explaining it to customer service. They may credit you for one month. I can't guarantee it, but it's worth a try.

I am still waiting for my one month trial (after the 3-hour expired). Still waiting for their email too for other questions. Wonder if they will come back to me. DS8 is pestering me because he wants to finish his Pre-Algebra Pie. I will give it another day before signing up for a month's use.
